Preparing and launching rockets involves hazardous activities. As such, ensuring public and worker safety is paramount. Our staff works closely with launch vehicle operators across the launch campaign lifecycle from on-site preparation activities through flight operations to ensure safety. This includes, developing, implementing, and monitoring processes to safely conduct hazardous operations; preparing and submitting closure requests to FAA, USCG, and State authorities to close air, ground, and waterway safety zones for hazardous and flight operations; and staffing launch operations control center crew positions, including Range Control Officer, Ground Control Officer, Range Surveillance Officer, Operations Director, and others.
